Mobile Application Development

Native and cross-platform apps for iOS and Android — including the offline-first, field-service and device-connected apps that most consumer app studios avoid.

Overview

Apps that work where the signal does not

Part of our Web, Mobile & Cloud Engineering practice.

A lot of mobile work assumes a warm office and four bars of signal. The people using these apps are often on a factory floor, in a basement substation, or in a vehicle — so sync, conflict resolution and battery behaviour are design problems, not afterthoughts.

We choose native or cross-platform on the merits of the project rather than on what we prefer to write, and we are explicit about the trade-off either way.

Capabilities

What we deliver

Native iOS & Android

Swift and SwiftUI, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, where platform integration, performance or hardware access justifies the extra build.

Cross-platform

Flutter and React Native where shared code and speed matter more, with a clear boundary for the native modules that still need writing.

Offline-first & sync

Local persistence, queued mutations, conflict resolution and background sync so the app stays usable without connectivity.

Device & hardware integration

BLE peripherals, NFC, barcode and OCR scanning, camera pipelines, location and geofencing, and companion apps for connected products.

Enterprise distribution

MDM and Intune deployment, enterprise signing, App Store and Play Store release management, staged rollout and crash triage.

Security & compliance

Biometric authentication, secure storage and keychain use, certificate pinning, and mobile-specific penetration testing against OWASP MASVS.

How we work

A predictable path from first call to handover

No two engagements are identical, but the shape is consistent — so you always know what happens next and what you get at the end of each stage.

Engagement models

Define the job

Who uses the app, where, and on what device. Field conditions drive most of the important decisions.

Prototype the risky part

Whatever is least certain — the BLE pairing flow, the sync model, the scan performance — gets built first, not last.

Build and release early

TestFlight and internal Play tracks from the first sprints, so real users are giving feedback long before launch.

Operate

Crash and performance monitoring, store release cadence, and a support window for OS version changes.

Outcomes

What changes for you

  • A working build in testers' hands within weeks, not at the end.
  • Offline behaviour designed deliberately rather than discovered in the field.
  • Store submissions handled, including the review rejections nobody warns you about.
  • A clear, costed answer on native versus cross-platform for your specific case.

Questions

Frequently asked

Native or cross-platform — which do you recommend?

It depends on hardware access, animation demands and team size. We give you the trade-off in writing during discovery; roughly two-thirds of our projects end up cross-platform.

Can you publish under our developer account?

Yes, and that is what we recommend — your account, your ownership. We handle the submission and review process within it.

Do you maintain apps you did not build?

Yes, after an audit. Mobile apps break on OS releases, so a maintenance retainer is usually the sensible arrangement.
